The Istituto Comprensivo di Ponte in Valtellina includes children from Kindergarten to the secondary school (aged 3-14).
It is composed of different school buildings for the kindergartens and for the primary schools located in the village of Ponte in Valtellina, and in the nearby villages, whilst there is only a building for the secondary school in Ponte in Valtellina.
The location of our schools is a bit distant from the nearest big city (Milan), two and a half-hour drive, but the scenery is really picturesque as we are surrounded by the Alps: we are only 15-minute drive from the Swiss border.
The students involved in the project are attending now the first year at the three-year course at Maurizio Quadrio secondary school in Ponte in Valtellina, a small village of about 2000 inhabitants. The total number of students at the Istituto Comprensivo is 815, of which 276 belonging to the secondary school, and the total numbers of teachers is 104, 37 of them teach at the secondary school. The Istituto Comprensivo di Ponte in Valtellina was founded in 1996 joining the secondary school and the primary schools and the kindergardens. The Secondary school was awarded The Road Ahead Prize Microsoft in 1997.
